Bespoke Transport Tile Manufacture
The iconic London Underground is easily identifiable from its clear signage and distinct colours to help guide passengers to their chosen destination on a daily basis. Many of the colours and signage are created using tiles.
H&E Smith have supplied wall tiles to London Underground since the mid 1980’s. Over this period we have supplied many bespoke tile designs, shapes and glaze effects to meet English Heritage requirements and the needs of London Underground Limited. From Arsenal to Tufnel Park, the images in the gallery show the vast variety of work we have carried out, including the special tubed line “No Exit” signs that we matched from broken tile samples. From small patch and repair work to Full Station refit projects, we are proud to be a supplier of choice for Transport for London.
More recently, we supplied bespoke tiles to St James Underground Rail Station in Sydney Australia, further confirming our status as a worldwide supplier of tiles. In the section below you are able to see examples of the range of tiles that we have developed and supplied for station refurbishment projects both large and small.
